This is a replacement for the dimmer that comes with the Afterburner lighting kit for the Game Boy Advance. It allows smooth scrolling of the brightness of the Afterburner Internal Light using the Game Boy Advance's own buttons, totally flicker free. The chip is completely hidden inside the GBA.

Dimming the Afterburner can help reduce glare and save battery life. A lot of people installing the Afterburner decide not to fit the supplied dimmer so they do not have to cut the external visible parts of the case. It allows you to use the Gameboy Advance's own buttons to dim the light. No external modification is required just a few extra wires to solder.

The chip is completely hidden inside the GBA, allowing for a completely hidden lighting & dimming solution. Included in the price is all the wire needed and a double sided sticky pad to enable safe placement of the chip.

FAB Dimmer Instructions

Dimming
Hold down the select button. Now use A to make the light brighter, and B to make the light darker. Tap the buttons to increase/decrease brightness by one step. To automatically scroll through levels, hold the buttons down. When the light is set to the desired level, release the Select button.

Lock Feature
If you want to lock the chip so that it doesn't respond to any button presses (for instance, if the game you are playing uses the Select + A or B combination), hold down the Select button for 4 seconds. The light will flash when the chip is locked. To unlock, press Select for 4 seconds again. The light will flash twice when the chip is unlocked.

Memory
The chip will remember your current dimmer and lock settings if you turn the Game Boy off or even if you remove the batteries.
